LH is a <b>sex hormone<\/b> that affects how a person\u2019s reproductive organs function. In females, LH affects the ovaries. The cell structure that is left after ovulation releases progesterone. Progesterone is needed to maintain a pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-aos=\"fade-left\"><b>\u2022 Testosterone production :<\/b> LH binds to Leydig cells in the testes and triggers testosterone production. Testosterone levels affect sex drive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-aos=\"fade-right\"><b>\u2022 Sperm production :<\/b> Testosterone, which LH levels affect, is needed for sperm production.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-aos=\"fade-left\">Your doctor may order the LH blood test in coordination with other hormone measurements, such as testosterone, progesterone, FSH, and estradiol.<\/p>\n<h2 data-aos=\"fade-up\">LH ranges and what they mean<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-aos=\"fade-right\">The normal range of LH varies between males, females, and children. LH test results are measured in international units per liter (IU\/L).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-aos=\"fade-left\">The following information is a guide to what high, low, and normal LH levels mean.
