Bacopa monnieri (Brahmi)
Brahmi also known as Bacopa is a plant that is extensively used in Ayurveda for its numerous medicinal properties. A creeper and a perennial herb, Brahmi has been in usage for generations and is widely beneficial in treating various health conditions as recommended by Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and other alternative medicines across the world.
Bacopa is commonly used for Alzheimer’s disease, improving memory, anxiety, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) among many other uses. But there is limited scientific research to support these uses.
How does it work?
Bacopa might increase certain brain chemicals that are involved in thinking, learning, and memory. Some research suggests that it might also protect brain cells from chemicals involved in Alzheimer’s disease.
Nutritional Value of Brahmi
The characteristic compounds of Brahmi are – dammarane-type triterpenoin saponin with jujubogenin, alkaloids brahmine, herpestine.

How to Use Brahmi
External Use of Brahmi
A paste of brahmi (again, made with either bacopa or gotu kola) can be applied to the exterior of the body to promote healthy skin, and comfortable movement of the joints.
Internal Use of Brahmi
Because taste plays such an important role in the digestive process and signals the body to initiate its own supportive mechanisms, Ayurveda traditionally recommends tasting herbs. Brahmi can be taken internally as a powder, a capsule or a tablet. Asgar Herbal makes Brahmi in a Powder and Capsule form.
Summary
Bacopa monnieri is an ancient Ayurvedic herbal remedy for many ailments.
Human studies show it may help boost brain function, treat ADHD symptoms, and reduce stress and anxiety. Furthermore, test-tube and animal studies have found that it may possess anticancer properties and reduce inflammation and blood pressure.
